Just lines birthday card

Just lines birthday card
BTH004
Size: 15cm x 11cm
Style: Single fold, landscape

This handmade birthday card was made for a male friend of mine. I find that creating cards for guys are quite a bit of a challenge. Most guys wouldn't want something flowery, or 'heart'-sy, or girly. Some guys like artsy, so like simplicity, and some like plain manly (ie skeletons, robots and so on).

Brown is quite a macho colour, and I used that as the basis for this card. I decided to make this card more neutral, which would appeal to most guys, and lines are just perfect for this case. To complement the 'lines' theme even more I used strings to wrap the 'B' letter.

Pink is such a romantic colour for weddings, and I absolutely love the embossed flower in the front of the card. I wanted the flowers to stand out, and felt that embossing will suit it this card just right. I also wanted to create some sort of framed art kind of look. So I embossed the flowers at different angles and added a layer of paper mat to create borders. Shimmering effect in blue, pink and purple were added to make the flowers stand out even more.

The end result is a pretty in pink invitation card which looks absolutely sweet and unique, and not too girlish.

Invitation wordings can be printed on inside of the wedding card, on a separate pastel pink paper.

Heart-stitch wedding card

Size: 17.5cm x 12.5cm
Style: Single fold, landscape

I created this wedding card with versatility in mind. I wanted couples to be creative and imaginative as I feel wedding cards should reflect their personality. One area of focus is on the red corrugated heart. Couples can have their names inscribe onto the pink floral-motif tags or if they prefer, they can just leave it as 'Wedding Invitation'. These tags are then joined at one end and buttoned to the heart.

The front of the card was cut shorter than the back in scallop shapes so that I can also write the bride and groom's name at the bottom. Romantic quotes like 'There is only one happiness in life - to love and be loved' or 'Two souls, one heart' can be used as well. The choice is up to you...

Invitation wordings can be printed on the inside of the wedding card, on a separate floral-motif or colour cardstock.

Rugged looking Father's Day card

FTD001
Size: 15cm x 10.5cm
Style: Single fold, landscape

With Father's Day just round the corner, I decided to give my dad this handmade clean, yet rugged looking card. I don't think cards can be totally rugged looking, as then it would just look plain messy. In Malaysia, Father's Day (or any other days like Valentine's or Mother's Day) is slightly over commercialized, and I feel that giving a handmade card is much more personal, and definitely will leave a warm fuzzy feeling in my dad's heart!

I used a nature inspired textured paper to cut out the 'Dad' word and I distressed it a little, and the effect was splendid! I then used some beads as accent to liven up the card since it looked a bit too dull being just brown.

I'm beginning to love the colour combination of tiffany blue and brown. They complement each other so well! There'll be more cards with this colour combo coming your way soon!

Size: 17.5cm x 12.5cm
Style: Gate fold, portrait

Gate fold cards add a sense of mystery to the receiver. So I decided to do a wedding card using this style for those couple who want to create this feeling to their guests. I opted for something simpler on the outside as I feel the content should be of higher importance.

I chose ash grey cardstock for the mysterious feel and added a red swirl as the band. I used the same swirl design and handstamped the side for a watermark effect. I also added wedding bells to the corner and if you notice, there are two wedding bells which symbolizes the union of two people.

Invitation wordings can be printed on the inside of the wedding card, on a separate red cardstock.

My mom loves sewing, and my sisters and I grew up using patchwork blankets she made for us. This handmade birthday card was inspired by those blankets made with love by my mom, and my mom's love for us.

The patchwork 'blanket' was recreated using small squares of pattern papers, and adding faux stitching effect around it. A torn-edged handmade recycled paper was added to give the 'blanket' some depth. A small collection of beads, buttons and sequins adds a little charm to the card. The final touch was a small safety pin pinned through a paper with the word 'Mom'. All in all, this card exudes warmth, comfort and love, perfect for any loved ones.

Garden wedding card

Size: 9cm x 19cm
Style: No fold, tea length portrait

My friend wanted something different besides the common colour of red and pink for their wedding card. I suggested orange as it is such a groovy and cheerful colour. And since it's a garden party, I added a hint of green by using a mossy grosgrain ribbon to the card. Both these colours complement perfectly.

To personalize the card even more, I punched out the couple's initials and attached it to the back of the green envelope. They were very happy with the end results.
